Senior’s Night: A Blast

Last March 23, 2011, the seniors of the School of Business and Management (SBM) had their Senior’s Night – and I was part of it (masky dli pa mu.graduate, senior man q)

Even though the party started late, the organizers were able to pull it through. Despite of some lapses, it was still great.

We partied like it was the end of the world in a G6. I hosted the after-program party; the HotMales were there – not to mention Neo Naces (ahahaha); the organizer was Concepts by Michael Ho; Ma’am Conie gave me some spills which made it very similar with Engage (XUFD Activity) but SBM Version. Most, if not all, of the seniors danced – I even saw some ladies whom I thought wouldn’t be dancing. The house got hotter and hotter; people were already sweating; screaming; dancing and enjoying the moment.

We also had our batch picture – even though not all of the seniors attended.

Also, I had the chance to take pictures with the people I’m close with.

more photos....

Indeed this really was a very memorable. It was even star studded - Bruno Mars (Shem), Ann Curtis (Kai), Lady Gaga (April Ky) and Katty Perry (Joy Ann) were there to party with us.

Day 1 in SPRUCE

I woke up at around 5 in the morning thinking that I could still go jogging, but decided not to.
I thought I was running late since the instruction given to me was that I should be there before 8am. I got there 7:50 (I think – basta hapit na 8). I got in the board room and to my surprise, I was the first noob. The people inside the board room were the other retailer representatives – from Butuan and Iligan (I think).
The training started 8:30. Our trainer/facilitator was Ms. Jessie from Terry SA. Topic: history of havaianas; humankind purpose; customer service; and the art of selling. The training was really informative – I learned a lot of new things about the product and about my work. We ended 12pm for lunch then resumed by 1pm. There were sort of contests, then prizes were given – havaianas items. We had our break by 4pm for 10mins and ended at exactly 5pm. After the training, we had picture taking.

After the picture taking, the retailers were then going out the board room to check in to their hotel. I then was oriented about my job by my direct boss – Mr. Aben. I signed a contract for my employment – 3 months; contractual.

After the contract signing, we then headed to Butcher’s Best to have our dinner. Everybody involved in the training were there. I had a chance to talk with Mr. Aben, a little getting to know you questions and more about my work. I got excited when Mr. Aben told me that I would be handling all the retailers since he will be handling all company owned stores; I will be their direct contact and we will be travelling from time to time to the different localities of our retailers. Then he also told me about the upcoming events that we will be having. I am really very excited.

I still wanna say more things but I ran out of words – wala nq kblu unsa pa aq isulte. Anyways, I hope to have more years to come with Spruce.

You're hired.

Yesterday morning – at around 8, Estefanie Janio, the Human Resources Assistant of SPRUCE called me, informing me that I will be scheduled for a Psych test next week. We’ll that part wasn’t really a big deal since I was not expecting anything yet.

Evening came, - same day at around 6, Ms. Estefanie called again telling me they can’t have me scheduled for a psych test, but then I’m already hired and with that she’ll be emailing me something – requirements and schedule.

Checked my email, I read the requirements. I can comply all of it, expect for the DIPLOMA and T.O.R. I got no choice but to inform them that I can’t march because I failed.

After informing them through email, Ms. Estafanie then forwarded my concern to the management and promised me she’ll get back to me as soon as possible. She also said that I will still be reevaluated.

At around 8 in the morning while “facebooking,” my phone was ringing and to my surprise it was her – Ms. Estef. She told me that I can start with my requirements and they will still get me. She then explained to me what will happen and the nature of my job.

Well, I got really excited and at the same time I panicked. 10 in the morning I started to work on my requirements. Deadline will be this Monday. So far I’m done with medical requirements. This Monday I’ll work on my SSS #, PAG-IBIG FUND #, PHILHEALTH # and my TIN.

I’m grateful. Despite the fact that I cannot march this 26th of March, I now have a job. And I know that most of those who will be graduating doesn’t have one yet – well unless if they’ll be having their own business.

Next week, I’ll be a little busy.

Can't March This March (2011)

These are some of my thoughts, knowing that I cannot graduate [yet]. I am not so sure if you’d read this.

After how many years of schooling, I have come to this point to not end [yet] college, simply because I cannot graduate since I failed a subject. This incident made me think of my previous graduations.

I thought I was an achiever. Kinder 1, I was an honor student and a fast learner. In grade school, I was a consistent honor student, involved in school events, organizations, and a varsity. In high school, well I wasn’t really a consistent honor student, but I was doing well, especially during my first and second years [pero sige q ka honor during these years]. Third year, I did well, president in our class, ran for office and won the election, murag na honor pa gani ko kas-a siguro. College was a rollercoaster – from accountancy to business administration. I got involved in various organizations; attended numbers of seminars, trainings, and workshops; organized and helped many projects/events/programs; founded Aim One Cagayan (AOC); founded and initiated the making of the three new organizations of SBM – Alliance of Business Economic Students, Junior Marketing Association and the Junior Financial Executives.

But during my graduating years, failures keep sprouting every now and then without any warning. In kinder, I graduated without any award – well wasn’t really a big deal. In grade school, I graduated ordinarily – not an honor student, not even special awards. In high school, I graduated third honor, but with no medal – because it was during our time when the new rule was implemented, that you can’t receive a medal if your QPI from 1st year until 4th year won’t qualify the cutoff – so no medal still.

This college? I am a loser and a failure. Yes, true, I can’t graduate because I have a failing mark. It pains me not seeing myself and even my parents can’t see me wearing a toga as I was suppose to march this march – expectations were not met.

Despite this distressing moment in my life, I am still optimistic of my future. I have experienced a lot of things majority of my classmates/batch mates/colleagues haven’t experience – this is my edge. Una lang mu, apas lng mi – mejo daghan man pud mi. ehehehe.

To the SBMSC people – you know who you are. Good Luck! I know you can always make it in the real world. Bow ko sa inyu bei.
To my JFINEX family – congratulations! Murag duha man lang ata mi who’s suppose to graduate but wasn’t able to make it. Pero sige lng we’ll catch up. It saddens me as your president, na dili ta complete mu-graduate. Good luck! I know you’ll succeed in the real world “JFINEX bya ta!
To my friends and all SBM Graduating students – Congratulations and Good luck!
