I miss blogging. It's been almost three months. hmmmm... so what's up?

My last update was July 10, and so i will do my best to refresh my memory on what had happened for the past few months/days/weeks.

I can't remember anything significant last July. tsk!

Now! for August! My birth month. hmmm... First big celebration was my nanay (lola - that's how I call my mother's mother) and dad's birthday... wait! before that day came, pol got hospitalized because of the pesticides for our coconuts. ahaha! and because of that, my mom have to spend more bucks for the hospitalization. hhhmm..  anyways, the birthday celebration still happened and it was big. 2 lechon and many food. of course there were also a number of guests who came, some we knew, some were familiar, some we didn't know at all. But that's okay! uuhhh.. what else...

ahh!!! I remember something for July. It was this month when I applied for PNB. and! ow! it was this month that Nhaia's dad came home. And I think it was also this month when I started shadow teaching Khai - my niece.

back to August!... My birthday! My birthday happens to be the same day with our Midterms in ManAcc.. and so days before that day, I was studying hard. On my birthday, Nhaia gave me a pair of headphones! which I've been wanting to buy. We had lunch at KFC then went straight to MYOH. after an hour (more or less) we got our personalized slippers (with just very few choices). Dropped Nhaia at her office, went home, took a bath, then off to school to a place they call the "library". Review and because of that, I was the first to finish the exam - and I dint top it, but I passed ;). Went home with my close friends and ate then shots! I drank tequila and t5. ahaha! so much for that, that was my best birthday celebration ever. Though there were only few guests, but i had the best day ever. My family was there, my barkada, my girlfriend, close relatives. Basta! that was the best birthday ever! i ended my birthday at around 5 in the morning. ehehe.

Exectly a week after my birthday, PNB called saying I got hired. ahaha! a week after that, I got my tooth extracted. ahahah!

My first day of work was on 3 September 2012, Monday... and the following Monday... was the pay day! I got excited but the moment I saw my payslip, I got disgusted! tsk! Dako kaau ang withholding taaaaxxx!!!! almost a thousand, plus other deductions... for the whole month, a total of almost 1.5K. tsk! that's too much! but anyways... ge lng.. bsta naai trabaho!!! and though I am entitle with overtime pay, the process is very tedious that you don't want to file for an overtime. tsk! so no overtime pay for me. That means I have to get out of work by 5. BUT! my boss is very workaholic and 5:30/6:00 is still early for her. Since I am still in probationary period, I can't do nor say anything. Good thing I am schooling.. I have a reason to be out early... :)

My first pay, i treated my family... of Course with Nhaia (with her brother, gian) at Cabula! Whole day swimming.

I also enrolled again at Powerplay... back to gyming! more determined to get trimmed! Nhaia also enrolled with her officemates.. and continue to invite more of her friends to enroll. ehehe!

hhhmm. last Saturday was my first day at the gym. then after the gym, watched The Mistress with my barkada. then to our farewell party in ManAcc.... then went up at Nhaia's place because her parents weren't there... and so we played......... Beer pong! ahahha! after playing, went home and splak!

It's almost sembreak... no finals for Environmental Law and Dynamics of Management. yeah!!!! \m/
And we had a great reporting in out Dynamics class!!!! then went to Dear Manok for a class dinner - the group paid 50% of the bill.

By the way, Nhaia and I just celebrated our 9th Monthsary! I hope we'll be doing great along the way...

Well, I guess that would be all... I hope I could update this blog more often... been busy!

Still adjusting to work, study, social life and family life... ehehehe.

It was more than three months since I last updated my blog. Hmmmm. Gotta do some catching up.

Well after that scheduled exam I was suppose to have for MBA, we were scheduled for an interview and that was also the day we would know our results. I passed all subjects except for Applied Math! Crap! Because of that I will be taking prerequisite subject. Tsk! Anyhow, I was still able to persuade Mr. Gevero to let me enroll despite my 5-month experience.

Now, I am already taking 3 subjects for MBA: Environmental Law, Dynamics of Management and Management Accounting.

For environmental law, it is challenging because our professor is also a law teacher in XU Law School, and according to her, our subject’s course outline is similar to her law classes. She’s also a Judge. She’s okay in class, but not a reason for me to be complacent. I’m really learning a lot from this subject, not only bout laws but also about what is happening in the real world and some other facts which are not found in books.
Done with the reporting and it was hell! I will not go into details anymore. Just today, after our class, our group decided to report on the next topic. So this means busy week again.

For dynamics of management, it kinda ok. Just need to pass case analysis every Monday 8pm. And for today, I almost didn’t make it. I totally forgot! Good thing I have a friend who’s very kind to lend me her iPad, so I was able to submit still on time. HAHA! Subject is not alien to me because it is some sort of the basic of management. So mejo relate ra! Though there are some things which are new to me.

Management accounting is the major pain in the ass for this sem. Well it is kinda similar with financial management, but its approach is more on the accounting side. So most of my classmates (well except for the CPAs, of course) are bleeding! HAHAHA! Every Thursday, we need to pass our answers in chapter’s problems and cases.
MBA is fun! Right now, I could say that though we meet only once a week per subject and three subjects per week, still it’s heavy!

Oh! One more thing, I was invited to run for office for the MBA council and (ahahaha!) I won. My position is Program Director (but I think there is a longer title, that’s just the short title).

This coming Saturday, July 14, we will be having an acquaintance party/orientation/general assembly/turnover. It’ll be at Grand Caprice. Theme: Prom!

---------------------------------------------------
Love life? Hhhmmm. Love life’s doing great so far. 6 months and counting. Tsk! Can’t upload any recent photo because my phone is still being repaired and most of our recent photos are there.

Recently we did wall climbing with her awesome office mates. And just last week we had a full body massage together.

We’re doing great! Well there are petty fights which cannot be avoided, but nevertheless, we still manage to fix things immediately.
Also, she’s working now and I’m not! Now I really need to have a job! Currently applying on some companies.

---------------------------------------------------
A lot of family gathering happened. It was because of my uncle and his family from New Jersey visited CdeO. Meet the familia GALLARES!!!!

---------------------------------------------------
It was three months since I last blogged, and all I could say… that three months were all worth it. Many things did happen. Many things learned too! And I was caught drinking…

Basta ky giniwang na daw ko! Ahahaha! You judge.

MBA Entrance Exam - P A S S E D

Yesterday, April 2, 2012, I went to school to get my results for the MBA Exam I took last March 17, 2012.

As I was still heading the testing office (even days before that day), I was already doubting whether I passed or not. Why? (1) I wasn't able to answer everything - I guess I left almost 20 unanswered items. (2) I wasn't sure of my answers specially on the Quantitative (Math) part because some of the items doesn't follow the MDAS rule. (3) I got timed out when answering the last Inductive Reasoning (Logic) part. (4) It was very long, kinda difficult, and very limited time in a very cold room.

I presented a piece of paper to get the result, she searched for my result, looked at it, then asked me... "para asa gani ni sir?" I answered for MBA. She then told me to proceed to the MBA office while handing me the result.

And so I got what I need. I went to the MBA office for further instructions.

Got a schedule for another exam on the 10th of April. Wish me luck!

March on March 2012

Last March 24, 2012, finally, was the day I graduated. It’s official now! HAHA!

while marching to the gym --- photo taken by Bianca Cabillar

Here are some facts I want to share…

1. I admit I was not as excited and as fulfilled like the other graduates. I was supposed to graduate March of 2011, but because I failed a (not a major) subject, I wasn’t able to make it.

2. I marched because of two reasons. (1) My parents wanted to see me march with my black toga. (2) I will be receiving a medal because I am a Loyalty Awardee.

one of my best friends, Eph Dahilan --- with gold medals

3. I felt happy still because of two reasons. (1) I saw how happy my parents were. (2) I was graduating with Nhaia, my girlfriend.

with my girlfriend, Nhaia Leh S. Albino

4. It pains me seeing my (supposed) batchmates watching when I was suppose to march with them last year. Pero payts ra gyapun ky happy man ata cla for me? HAHA!

5. I wasn’t able to appreciate everybody who congratulated me. Not the person but the thought of the “congratulations” word. I was lost between the thought of mockery and sincerity.

6. I felt happy and proud receiving a GOLD MEDAL while other graduates dint have any! HAHA! They just waited for their names to be called, go up the stage, receive a rolled bond paper (without any print in it) handshake Fr. President, bow, back to seat, and wait for almost an hour for everybody to be called. But nevertheless, they were still HAPPY! --- bitter mode

7. Also, if a graduated last year, I wouldn’t have the chance to handshake the current School President. HAHA! Graduated kindergarten and grade school with Fr. Samson; graduated high school with Fr. Jett; and college with Fr. Bobby. 3 School presidents in sum! I know it’s not a “thing” but it’s a FACT! HAHA!

Yeah I graduated and marched, so what? HAHA! I am currently unemployed and broke but happy! I got supportive parents, loving girlfriend, and a rollercoaster life to live!

I have yet to live my dreams, but I am preparing for its realization. It doesn’t mean that when you’re unemployed you’re no longer successful.

We're Different

I just wanna clarify stuffs between AOC and MBMYC, because there are people who don't seem to understand.

----------------------------------------------------------

CDO-ASSET’s AIM ONE CAGAYAN is not similar to MBMYC.

MBMYC is more on getting informed and empowered, and yes they provide training as well. I was a delegate of MBMYC for 2 straight years. It was fun, and I could say it was worth it.

AOC don't have the same approach as MBMYC. For AOC, it is not just training, informing and socializing – it’s more than that because we build on people’s lives.

It is a venue where participants are chiseled to become better individuals; it is a time when participants are immersed with their selves

I am not saying that AOC is better than MBMYC. I am saying that AOC deserves respect as well.

You ask about experience? Ask our delegates. And make sure the other doesn’t outnumber the other - equal number of delegates. You can even ask our speakers about their experience and how happy they were being part of this noble endeavor.

AOC was not organized to compete with MBMYC. In fact it could have been partners, AOC for city-wide then MBMYC for Mindanao-wide. Why do you see us as a competition? Are you threatened? Why are you threatened? MBMYC existed for almost a decade while AOC started just a few years ago. MBMYC is stable, while AOC isn't - because we are still learning, trying to stand, trying to prove something, trying to make SBM proud of us.

For those of you, who tried MBMYC and AOC, say something. For those of you who tried AOC, say something, because some people look down at us.

PS. If you wanna comment, please feel free. Thanks!

Aim One Cagayan

Aim One Cagayan or AOC is a three-day Leadership and Entrepreneurship Training Seminar – this was the AOC when we started this.

After three years of AOC, it has another description. It was more than just training. AOC is a time when participants are immersed with their selves. AOC is a venue where participants are chiseled to become a new individual. AOC is a life changing experience.

AOC started as just an event for CDO-ASSET. Yes, it was to train individuals – but when the first AOC was implemented, I saw value in it. It was more than just a “job well done” for me. That feeling that you were there, helping that person become strong, confident, and aware of their capabilities and limitations. It was very rewarding.

I never expected that AOC will reach as far as three years. And now I believe that it will last for more years. I could say that because I was there since the very beginning, and I saw how the participants responded. I even heard them say that what they’ve experience was priceless and they never regretted that they joined the event.

Every year, it warms my heart, seeing the delegates change, talking to them about their experience, their plans to be facilitator for the next AOC, their get-together plans, them already excited for the next AOC as early as the day after the event, them running for office in different organizations, them now holding positions in big companies, them now CPAs, them owning businesses.

AOC is a God’s grace. When this started, I never thought it would turn out this way. I never thought that we could get those speakers – Efren Penaflorida, Reese Fernandez, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Noreen Bautista, Bam Aquino, Brian Quebengco… google their names. There were backlogs but in the end, with God's grace, the event was successful.

To all those who shared the endeavor in organizing and continuing to pursue this event every year, thank you so much.

To those who are trying to bring us (CDO-ASSET) down, thank you. Because of you, we learned to be better and better.

To those who don’t believe in us, thank you. Because of you, we are inspired us to do more so we can soon somehow change your impression on us.

We aim to change Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, and soon the Philippines. Maybe not now, but soon. I know the seeds that we’ve planted in every participant will grow and will nourish other’s heart.

To God be the greater glory.

Message to the Delegates of AOC3

2 years ago, CDO-ASSET wanted to have a small event. An event, though small, will create an impact to the participants, thus we founded, on November of 2009, and implemented on January of 2010, the Aim One Cagayan (AOC).

We started this event with the hope of changing the perspective of the youth, that we (the youth) can do something to help change Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, and eventually Philippines. It was indeed very ambitious, considering the fact that we were nobody in this city – just students.

In two years, we were able to train almost a hundred aspiring leaders who then became better individuals. After AOC, they were then holding positions in different organizations. They became somebody from nobody.

If I am not mistaken, most of you here attended because you were forced or forcedly convinced by the marketers, former delegate friends, or maybe because of the incentive your teacher might give you.  - Don’t worry, most, if not all of our delegates before were in that same situation.

In AOC, you get to be part of something fulfilling. You get see yourself and others grow and change perspective towards life, towards being young. You get to be part of the transformation, a transformation of a lifetime. You will be equipped and empowered by our speakers and activities.

AOC for me is an event similar to birthdays. It is very special and something to look forward to. What makes it even better is when you share that day with your good friends, and with great people.

I was there since the very beginning, and every year, according to Jacob, leaves imprints, it also makes new memories, new friends, new learning, new experience.

If you allow us to train and mold you, then I promise you three things. [1] You get to expand your network - meet new friends and the future leaders of our generation; [2] you will surely have fun; and lastly [3] you will become a newly chiseled person with confidence, ready to break down barriers and can face the world boldly.

To the delegates, may your three-day adventure with us be prolific and life changing as we share unto you the responsibility of a young leader and entrepreneur in changing Cagayan de Oro. Let us then take part in healing our economy, fueling growth and making the world a better place for us all.

Thank you so much.

Aim One Cagayan

3 years and counting, CDO-ASSET’s Aim One Cagayan was successful (again).

Small Background
Aim One Cagayan is a three-day Leadership and Entrepreneurship Training Seminar for the youth of Cagayan de Oro. This event aims to form young individuals to become CATALYSTS of positive change, new LEADERS and conscientious ENTREPRENEURS.

This was first implemented on January 8-10, 2010. The speakers were Efren Penaflorida – CNN Hero, and Reese Fernandez – Co-founder and President of Rags2Riches.

The leaders who joined named their batch as “BULPAGS” or Bulawanong Paglantaw (Golden Perspective).

On January 28-30, 2011 marks the second AOC. The speakers were Sen. Francis “Chiz” Escudero and Noreen Bautista – Co-founder and Director of Jacinto and Lirio.

The delegates named their batch as “SERVIVORS” (We serve. We survive.)

For the last two years, the training has already been at Mapawa Nature Park.

The Format
The event is grounded on Leadership and Entrepreneurship. There are small and big group activities with facilitators assigned to guide them. Every after activity, delegates undergo processing. By the end of the event, the delegates will choose their batch president and vice-president and batch name.

Every year, activities are leveled up, and the former delegates get to help in facilitating. Alumni (former staff and delegate) also get to visit during the training.

AOC 3, Feb 10-12 2012
This year, CDO-ASSET invited Brian Quebengco – Founder and Chief Inoventor of Inovent, Inc. and Bam Aquino.

Brian Quebengco stayed at Mapawa for the whole duration of the event. He helped the organizers in some of the processing activities. He even joined everybody in the rain during the day 2 activities.

On day 3, Bam Aquino arrived and gave his talk about entrepreneurship.

After the talk, the delegates had more processing at the lawn, and the speakers then went their way home.

After all the processing and activities the 3rd Batch named, "COMRUST", became new individuals – bold, strong, and confident.

The batch named themselves as such for them to be reminded of the things that they lack during the training – Communication and Trust.

Laws of Power

I saw an article from Wikipedia and got this awesome laws. Try reading all of it and you might wanna try living some of the laws. ehehehe

·  Learn to keep people dependent on you.
·  Use selective honesty and generosity to disarm your victim.
· When asking for help, appeal to people's self-interests, never to their mercy or gratitude.
·  Pose as a friend, work as a spy.
·  Crush your enemy totally.
·  Use absence to increase respect and honor.
·  Keep others in suspended terror: cultivate an air of unpredictability.
·  Do not build fortresses to protect yourself. Isolation is dangerous.

·  Use the surrender tactic: transform weakness into power.
·  Concentrate your forces.
·  Play the perfect courtier.
·  Re-create yourself.
·  Keep your hands clean.
·  Play on people's need to believe to create a cultlike following.
·  Enter action with boldness.
·  Plan all the way to the end.
·  Make your accomplishments seem effortless.
·  Control the options: get others to play with the cards you deal.
·  Play to people's fantasies.
·  Discover each man's thumbscrew.
·  Be royal in your fashion: act like a king to be treated like one.
·  Master the art of timing.
·  Disdain things you cannot have: Ignoring them is the best revenge.
·  Create compelling spectacles
·  Think as you like but behave like others.
·  Stir up waters to catch fish.
·  Despise the free lunch.
·  Avoid stepping into a great man's shoes.
·  Strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter.
·  Work on the hearts and minds of others.
·  Disarm and infuriate with the mirror effect.
·  Preach the need for change, but never reform too much at once.
·  Never appear perfect.
·  Do not go past the mark you aimed for; in victory, learn when to stop.
·  Assume formlessness.

Some Unwritten Rules to Live By

While I was surfing the net for good articles to read, I came across an article from Men's Health entitled...

40 Unwritten Rules to Live By
By: Mark Bricklin

Very interesting that I wanted to share it. ehehe. Here it goes...

1. Never ask a woman if she wants to have sex by asking her if she wants to have sex.

2. It is more important to have good health insurance than good health.

3. Don't bluff more than once in a poker game with friends.

4. When one of the big bosses at work unexpectedly says something really cheery and friendly to you, he means absolutely nothing by it. Not even if he's your father.

5. Wear as much black as you can. It makes you look slimmer and cooler. But avoid black jeans.

6. When someone in your family is going through a divorce, always side with the blood relative.

7. Pointedly praising something unusual a person owns or has done will make you appear far smarter in his eyes than a 10-minute discourse on world events.

8. Yes, speak softly and carry a big stick. But don't mumble. And don't swing the stick.

9. The man who can't dance, can't converse, and can't provide psychological support to a woman is only half a man; the other half can't cook, can't clean, and badly wants a drink.

10. Do not get a visible tattoo larger than your penis.

11. Be aware that most people are operating on a very condensed version of the 10 Commandments: the part about murder.

12. There will be times when good neighbors are more important than a good neighborhood.

13. Telling a woman, "You're a great person," is taken as the lead-in to a confession that you don't love her.

14. Trying to "teach someone a lesson"never works.

15. Easy on the mayo!

16. Be careful about publicly discussing your hobbies, as most hobbies strike people as somewhat pathetic: most notably, collecting stamps, coins, or anything else, bird-watching, bowling, rockhounding, spelunking, table tennis, poetry, dog shows, chat rooms, polka music, yoga, herpetology, marathon running, and religion. The only hobbies you can safely own up to when among people you need to impress are fly-fishing and golf.

17. Never buy anyone a gift at a kiosk.

18. Never wear clothing that your coworkers avoid—the bow tie, the suspenders, the green suit. While you might think you're expressing your individuality, your colleagues will perceive it as a rejection of their group culture; you'll become a person who probably can't be trusted.

19. Do not bring lunch to work.

20. Rainbows are God's way of reminding us that beauty is an optical illusion

21. You will never become a rock star.

22. As you go through life, you will discover that more and more of the subjects you studied in college are useless, with the exception of abnormal psychology.

23. Never make any sort of generalization concerning gender, even if it's so true God himself would back you up.

24. Telling a person in management, "I'm a bit of a philosopher," means you're a total loser.

25. When running in the park on a hot day, do not take off your shirt if you are a really hairy sonofabitch.

26. Never hesitate to admit the error of your ways, when under oath in federal court.

27. Always wear freshly laundered or pressed clothing to work. Even one wrinkle will have certain coworkers creating—and perhaps sharing—scenarios of debauchery or financial distress.

28. Do not say hi to a perfect stranger in any town with a population over 2,000. The friendly gesture in Beaver Dam Falls is a scary act of aggression in Boston.

29. Always imply, in every possible way, that the person you're talking to is smarter, better-looking, slimmer, and more successful than they really are.

30. When choosing a bottle of wine to bring to a dinner party, spend between 10 and 15 dollars. That's for a bottle, not a gallon.

31. Do not come on to the new female pastor, unless she winks at you during the sermon.

32. An ounce of appearance is worth a pound of substance.

33. The way a woman looks, acts, and talks says nothing about how good she is in bed.

34. It is okay to admit in conversation that your accountant used his imagination to save you $500 in taxes, but never admit you saved 5 bucks by refilling the vodka bottle in the minibar with water.

35. Never get into a pissing match via e-mail. If he forwards, you lose.

36. Never suggest to another person at the gym that he's not working hard enough to accomplish anything.

37. People who live in glass houses are idiots.

38. Going insane while watching a great football game is a sign of mental health.

39. When a man meets another man, bonding begins when they both say things they hope no one else hears.

40. The person who sincerely says to you, "I want to get to know you better," is a person you don't want to know at all.
